HASSAN: Film director and writer Nagathihalli Chandrashekar has expressed regret over the neglect of Gorur in Hassan taluk, and said that it has produced stalwarts in various fields. Presiding over a function organised to release a collection of poems titled “Belakaguva Hambala” penned by Gorur Pankaja, Mr. Chandrashekar said the Gorur Dam could have been developed on a par with the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Mandya district. Mr. Chandrasekhar said that excessive Americanisation had made the youth indifferent to their own culture. He said the use of e-mails and text messaging services had eclipsed the love for literature. He said it was the responsibility of the people to develop villages, otherwise life would become rootless. Great minds in the country always had their cultural roots intact, he added.
