Staff Reporter

Five-day ‘yatra’ planned

KANNUR: ‘Peace message yatra’ by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) began in different parts of the district on Sunday.

The five-day ‘yatra’ has been planned to spread the message of peace. It will highlight the spirit of resolution of the all-party peace meeting convened by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on March 15, CPI(M) leaders said.

Party Central committee member E.P. Jayarajan inaugurated the ‘yatra’ at Cheruvanchery and Karyad in the district. CPI(M) leader M.V. Govindan flagged off the campaign at Pariyaram.

The ‘yatra’ from Kannadiparamba here had been inaugurated by Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy on Saturday, while the campaign from Thillankery had been launched by the former MP T. Govindan.

CPI(M) leaders K.K. Shylaja, C.K.P. Padmanabhan, P. Jayarajan, M.V. Jayarajan and P. Sasi were leading the ‘yatras’ that will visit various places in the district.
