Manipal varsity wins award

Manipal: The Manipal University has won the Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC) Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award – 2007 under the education category.

The award was presented to the Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University H.S. Ballal by the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia at a function organised at the Y.B.Chavan Centre in Mumbai on March 21.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Prof. Ballal said the award had been bestowed on Manipal University for the first time.

The award, one of the most prestigious quality awards in the country, was the Indian version of the Malcolm Baldrige model of business excellence, prevalent in USA.
