Jayalalithaa holds DMK responsible

CHENNAI: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary, Jayalalithaa, on Sunday held the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam responsible for the alleged attack on the AIADMK’s Tuticorin union functionary V.P.R. Suresh. In a statement, she contended that Mr. Suresh was attacked only because he went to the rescue of rain-hit people in his area. He was immediately taken to the Tuticorin government hospital and later to a private hospital in Madurai. On Saturday, the AIADMK functionary participated in a stir in the area and called for the arrest of members of the DMK who were said to have assaulted earlier some participants of the stir. She demanded that those involved in the attack of Mr Suresh be brought to book. — Special Correspondent
