This Day That Age
An eight-point programme for launching a productivity drive in the country was laid down by the recently-constituted National Productivity Council at its first meeting in New Delhi on March 22. The Union Minister for Industry, Mr. Manubhai Shah who is the President of the Council, presided. The Council decided to stimulate and facilitate the establishment of Local Productivity Councils which will be the main vehicles for propagating productivity. The Local Councils will have, among their members, industrial units, institutions, individuals and organisations of industries, employers and workers. The main features of the programme are dissemination of information relating to productivity, training in productivity, organising of productivity services of important industrial centres, promoting inter-plant visits, sponsoring visits of productivity teams to advanced countries, training of personnel abroad and inviting foreign technicians and specialists in productivity.
