Pet passion catching up

NEW DELHI: With a fast-paced lifestyle mounting stress on the urban population, demands for companion creatures are running high in the country, say experts.

“Having a companion creature like a dog or anything else often plays significant role in pacifying people’s mind and thus, it helps them to deal with the pressure of everyday life,” psychiatrist Sanjay Chug told PTI.

Indian pet-food market has been showing annual growth rate of 10-15 per cent in the last few years, according to Euromonitor International. This growth rate should be largely attributed to the change in lifestyle, experts say. — PTI
