Teachers’ demands

Teachers were again on the streets demanding some sort of fair deal. To some extent, their demands are justified. They have been frequently submitting memoranda to the State Government, which has been in turn regularly doling out promises. Can we see an end to the process? Will teachers ever settle down in their services? Why cannot State Government formulate a single window for all teachers with proportionate salary structure? For the ongoing problems, the State government is to blame itself.

They have dissected our education system into many pieces and in these circumstances the government sponsored education will have no other option but to crumble. Peculiar it seems where teachers are more concerned about their uncertainty prevailing in their jobs rather than future of students.

I urge State Government to put a well-formulated teachers’ policy in place otherwise educations in village will disappear in no time.

TV soaps go off track

Recent television soaps have gone off the track. They don’t reflect lives existing in India. Be it extra marital affairs or a character getting into life from ashes or overdose of high society stories, the subjects have almost made viewers dejected. Either they are going for sports or news channel. The entertainment space in television is no more an attraction for them. Now the television moguls will have to think out of box to bring back people before their television sets. The TV programmes should be more interactive and educative so that viewers will think the time he spends watching TV is not wastage.

Television soaps should not be based on family drama. Besides family, there are other aspects of life which should also be highlighted.

Season of strikes

A season of strikes and agitation starts in Orissa coinciding with the Assembly seasons. Most of the agitations are organised by the people attached with the Government sector, be it lecturers or the doctors. It gives a feeling that the people serving the Government are faced with a barrage of problems. Then why do people line up for government jobs despite low pays. Would the agitators leave their government jobs as they are not satisfied with their employer. The agitation of government employees of one particular sector continues for some days and then it is withdrawn with promises from the government. But no one thinks of common man who is the real sufferer due to these agitations.
