New panel formed for regularisation of more illegal colonies

Staff Reporter

Were left out from the earlier recommendations

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has constituted a five-member committee chaired by Special Secretary (Urban Development) to accept the requests for regularisation of all those colonies that have not find a mention in the earlier list of 1,071 colonies or the new list of 1,409 colonies that has been sent to the Union Ministry of Urban Development for regularisation.

Delhi Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan told the Delhi Assembly this past week that this committee would also look into the regularisation of left out portions of those colonies that had been regularised in 1979. He was replying to a question by Badarpur MLA Ramvir Singh Bidhuri who stated that there was an urgent need to regularise the left out portions in those 567 colonies that had been regularised by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1977 so that development works could be undertaken there.

Mr Bidhuri also demanded that the norms for regularisation of extended abadi area of villages be also simplified. He said these colonies are on private land, have submitted their layout plans and exist in the aerial survey of 2002 and so there should be no reason for a delay in their regularisation.

Speaking up for the farmers, Bawana MLA Surender Kumar had demanded that the Government should also compensate all farmers whose land has been acquired and who have not been given awards, at the new rate of Rs 75.46 lakh per acre.
