Mayors’ term

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The Devaraj Urs National Party has urged the government not to implement the Kasturirangan Committee report on increasing the mayor’s term from one year to five years in the State. According to a press release here on Sunday from the party president Sugandharaje Urs, the one-year term was brought into practice to give all classes of people representation to participate in civic administration and by extending the tenure the others will be deprived of their chance. The one-year tenure should be retained.
