CHENNAI: The proposed six common facility centres will address the problem of marketing being faced by the powerloom sector, Minister of State for Textiles E.V.K.S. Elangovan said on Sunday.
Each centre, costing Rs.70 crore, would have different sections, including designing, marketing and training, all under one roof. Initially Rs. 100 had been allotted, he said, inaugurating a modernised export building at the headquarters of Co-optex here. Erode would have one such centre.
Later, he told reporters that sites for 30 projects under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks were yet to be identified. Five projects would be implemented in the State. He also launched new designer shirts and furnishing materials and distributed prizes to winners of embroidery and fabric painting competitions.
