‘Borders would be sealed four days before the elections’ Patna: Security on the porous Indo-Nepal borders has been beefed up in view of the ensuing elections in the Himalyan kingdom Bihar Principal Home Secretary, Afzal Amanullah on Monday said. Mr. Amanullah said here the Union Home Ministry had convened a high-level meeting on April 1 to assess the security measure of state governments on the porous international borders. He said the Indo-Nepal borders would be sealed four days before the elections in Nepal on April 10. Mr. Amanullah said the Seema Sasashtra Bal (SSB) have been asked to intensify patrolling and to keep a close vigil on the people crossing the border. Additional forces would be deployed in the districts bordering Nepal to check trans-border activities like smuggling of firearms to Nepal, Mr. Amanullah said. Surveillance was being kept on the activities of students’ organisations of the two countries. During the meeting convened by Union Home Ministry on April one, Mr. Amanullah would brief the Ministry officials about the steps taken by the Bihar Government to check movement of anti-socials, transfer of illegal arms and other measures.- PTI
