PUDUCHERRY: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLA from Nellithope Omsakthi Sekar sat in for a fast in the Assembly complex to highlight certain problems of the people in his constituency. Mr. Sekar said that he was protesting against “lack of action by authorities” to end the perennial problem of water-logging in some parts of his constituency. Officials of the Public Works Department pleaded with him to end the fast. Mr. Sekar said that he would not retract unless the officials assured him of action without delay to save the residents of D.R.Nagar, Velmurugan Nagar and Tirumal Nagar from inundation. Following the assurance given by the authorities, Mr. Sekar withdrew the protest by 11.30 a.m.
