ANANTAPUR: Intermittent spells of rain across the Anantapur district for the last three days left a different experience for the people as such a weather in the beginning of the summer season is very rare here. The unseasonal rain has caused loss to the standing chilli crop and orchards of papaya and mango. According to the information reaching here, standing chilli crop in about 6,000 acres was damaged badly in Vidapanakal mandal alone. Papaya and mango orchards were also damaged due to untimely rain. An average of 5.6 mm rainfall was recorded in the district from March 22 to March 23.
