Total credit outlay of Rs. 2,165 crore, including Rs. 1, 293 crore crop loans Plan comprises outlay of Rs. 587 crore for government-sponsored schemes ANANTAPUR: The annual credit plan for Anantapur district for the 2008-09 financial year was unveiled here on Monday by Collector N. Sridhar. The plan has total credit outlay of Rs. 2,165 crore including Rs. 1, 293 crore crop loans. The Collector thanked the bankers for achieving 124 per cent of the targets in 2007-08 and urged them to work with the same spirit for the next financial year. Speaking at the meeting the Collector said the district stood first in the State in the matter of crop loans in 2007-08 by disbursing Rs. 1,150 crore against the target of Rs. 1,026 crore, he stated. The banks did a wonderful job by extending a bank linkage of Rs. 330 crore to the self-help groups in 2007-08 against the target of Rs. 305 crore. A sort of history was also created in the process by disbursing Rs. 108 crore assistance to the SHGs in one day, when Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy visited Dharmavaram in October last. Agriculture term loans disbursed during the year were Rs. 300 crore against the target of Rs. 90 crore. Besides, the deposits of bank had also risen to Rs. 4, 252 crore from Rs. 3, 200 crore during the previous year. He complimented the additional efforts put in by the banker in cooperation with the district administration to achieve the credit plan. Explaining the features of the 2008-09 plan the Collector said the agriculture sector was project to avail 1,420 crore including Rs. 1, 293 crore crop loans, Rs. 73 crore term loans and Rs. 54.41 crore loans for allied activities. Dairy would get Rs. 32 crore, Rs. 20 crore for farm mechanisation, Rs. 17 crore for horticulture. The new credit plan also comprised an outlay of Rs. 587 crore for government-sponsored schemes. Operational heads of different banks thanked the Collector for extending deposits of government funds in proportion to their achievement of the credit plan. Lead District Manager K. Sudhir, Regional Manager of Syndicate Bank Naveen Chandra, Regional Manager of Andhra Pragati Grameena Bank Prasad Rao, RBI representative Rajendra Prasad and others also spoke. Assistant General Manager of NABARD K.M. Prabhakar stated that village development plan would be launched in Kothuru village of Kalyanadurg mandal next month and asked other banks operating in the district to adopt at least one village each.
