Battered track: The Pudukottai-Tiruchi National Highway is in a bad shape.

PUDUKOTTAI: A major part of the Tiruchi–Pudukottai highway has developed serious potholes at a number of places after the recent showers. The National Highway is under the maintenance of the State Highways Department’s divisions in Tiruchi and Thanjavur.

Although the Pudukottai-Sathyamangalam and the Anna University–Tiruchi sectors are in a fairly good condition, the intervening section between Kalamavur and Sathyamangalam has suffered extensive damage.

Official sources said that steps had been taken to relay the entire stretch for which tenders had been called.

As an interim measure, patch-up works had been taken up from Monday for temporary restoration of the highway, sources said.
