Deploy Central forces in Kerala: RSS

Mumbai: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday accused the CPI(M)-led government in Kerala of hiring contract killers to eliminate its cadres and other political leaders who did not toe the CPI(M)’s line.

The organisation demanded deployment of Central forces in violence-hit areas in Kerala.

“Peace loving citizens of the country need to protest to stop the Communist Party of India (Marxist) from unleashing a reign of terror and resorting to Nandigram style of intolerance,” senior RSS leaders Ram Madhav and K. Balaram said.

The CPI(M) was on a killing spree in Kannur, the leaders said, adding that five RSS activists had been killed and scores of them injured in renewed attacks by the CPI(M) cadres in the district since March 5. So far more than 60 RSS activists had been killed in the violence, they said.

While RSS had welcomed and supported all peace efforts, the CPI(M) cadres were perpetrating violence, they alleged.

“The CPI(M) now uses contract killers to eliminate opponents. Only deployment of Central forces can bring peace in the affected regions,” Mr. Madhav said.

‘Police biased’

Mr. Balaram, who hails from Kerala, said the police were siding with the CPI(M) workers because of political pressure.

The RSS leaders said they would launch functions and rallies from this month end to expose the ‘Stalinist’ face of CPI(M). —PTI
