CHANDIGARH: Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Raghubir Singh Kadian on Monday reserved judgment on the disqualification case against former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal. He had deferred on March 8 the hearing of the petition moved by Congress MLAs seeking disqualification of the former Chief Minister till March 24 in view of the death of Mr. Bhajan Lal’s grandson. However, on March 11 he had passed disqualification orders against two MLAs, Dharampal Singh Malik and Rakesh Kamboj, for their “affiliation” with the Haryana Janhit Congress floated by Mr. Bhajan Lal’s younger son Kuldeep Bishnoi. Interestingly, Mr. Bhajan Lal in a signed statement on Sunday sharply attacked the Congress and the present government in the State. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda told media persons on Monday that the State Government had informed the Election Commission of India about the two vacancies in the State Assembly resulting from the disqualification of Mr. Malik and Mr. Kamboj. He said there was a possibility that these by-elections could be held along with those of Karnataka in May. Commenting on Mr. Bishnoi’s resignation from the Bhiwani Lok Sabha seat, Mr. Hooda said only Lok Sabha Speaker Som Nath Chatterjee could give a satisfactory reply on the issue.
