VS tells staff to improve efficiency

Staff Reporter

ALAPPUZHA: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has called for a change in the mindset of bureaucrats and government employees so that life will be a much easier affair for the common man.

Speaking after inaugurating a new building of the mini-civil station at Mavelikara near here on Monday, Mr. Achuthanandan said the common man’s life should not end running from one government office to the other for months together to get a single file moving and get his rights extracted from red tape.

Though the government was making efforts to cure the system of such maladies, a solution was possible only if the bureaucrats and government employees too thought on similar lines.

Officials would have to improve their efficiency considerably, otherwise no amount of modernisation in government offices would help, he said.
