Two persons killed due to rain in Pudukottai

PUDUKOTTAI: Two rail-related deaths were reported in the district on Sunday.

Balasubramanian (23) of Vaithikovil near Udayalipatti was electrocuted after he came into contact with a live wire.

The wire had snapped due to strong winds near his residence.

Selvi (25) of Thengaithinnipatti village near Iluppur was killed after a lightning had struck her.

Police said that the incident happened when the woman was working in the fields.

Coastal parts of the district continued to experience moderate to sharp showers on Sunday.

Rainfall

For the 24 hours ended at 8.30 a.m. on Monday, Kattumavadi registered 33 mm of rain, Meemisal 28.4 mm and Manamelkudi 24 mm.
