Madhavaram drainage project put on hold: Jayalalithaa
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Jayalalithaa on Monday complained that the underground drainage project in Madhavaram municipality had been kept in abeyance.
In a statement, she said that though the spade work for the drainage project was completed during the previous AIADMK regime, the project did not take off because of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s approach of “political hatred.”
The local body administration had also decided to locate a slaughterhouse in a residential locality. At a time when people were experiencing rise in the prices of essential commodities, there were reports that the local body was planning to revise property tax. Besides, developmental work was being neglected in wards represented by councillors of the AIADMK.
The party would stage a demonstration on Wednesday to mark its protest against the administration on the issues and E.V.K. Sulochana Sampath, organising secretary of the party, would lead it, said Ms. Jayalalithaa.
