Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: A two-wheeler rider, wearing a full mask helmet, snatched a gold chain from an elderly woman who was walking alone near her residence in Thiruvanmiyur on Sunday night.

Police said that when Parvathi (63), a retired teacher, was walking near Rukmani Arundale Road, a two-wheeler rider stopped near her on the pretext of inquiring about an address and pulled her gold chain and fled away.

The Thiruvanmiyur police have registered a case and are on the look out for the rider.

Recently, the police arrested a two-wheeler rider who allegedly indulged in snatching of gold chains from lone women. Sunday’s night came as a shock to the women who moved alone during evenings, said residents of localities in Thiruvanmiyur.
