Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: A 25-year-old software engineer was drowned in a swimming pool of an amusement park on East Coast Road on Monday.

The police said the victim, R. Dinesh Kumar, of Raghavendra Street, Choolai, was working in a software firm at T. Nagar. As it was his day off, he had gone to MGM amusement park, along with his friends.

After joy rides, the friends were said to have come to the pool. After some time, they left. Only when they reached the entrance did they realise that Dinesh Kumar was missing. They went back to the pool, where Dinesh Kumar was found unconscious, floating. He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Joint Commissioner of Police (South) G. Dorairaj said the Neelangarai police registered a case of drowning.
