JIPMER panel ready for talks with Centre

Staff Reporter

PUDUCHERRY: The JIPMER Anti-autonomy People’s Action Committee is ready to hold talks with Union Health Ministry officials to sort out the issues related to the autonomy Bill, its president T. Murugan has said.

“In a letter to Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on March 22, we conveyed our willingness to discuss the contentious issues, in the presence of Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders, either in Puducherry or Chennai or New Delhi,” he told reporters on Monday.

The letter followed the discussions the committee had with the CPI(M) leadership.

CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat had appealed to Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss to initiate talks with the committee before the Bill was presented to Parliament, he said.
