NEW DELHI: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions has described the Pay Commission recommendations as “arbitrary, discriminatory and disappointing.” In a statement issued here on Monday, CITU president M. K. Pandhe said that against the demand of Rs. 10,000 as the minimum wage computed on the basis of the 15th Indian Labour Conference recommendations, the Commission has recommended only a paltry Rs. 5,740, while the maximum has been fixed at Rs. 90,000. The All India Trade Union Congress has said abolition of Grade-D posts automatically means downsizing while much more has been given to the officers of the ranks of Secretary and Cabinet Secretary, though it believes that the recommendation relating to introduction of performance related incentives scheme may encourage subjective considerations.
