Former NSL official in the dock

HYDERABAD: Congress members in the Legislative Council on Tuesday demanded stern action against a former Nizam Sugars Limited (NSL) official accusing him of indulging in several irregularities causing loss to the then State undertaking, which was later sold off to a private entrepreneur.

Palvai Goverdhan Reddy (Congress) raised the issue stating that the House Committee on privatisation of four NSL units had made 28 recommendations, including stringent action against the then General Manager (finance) of the NSL, who was allegedly responsible for sale of factory machinery and 200 acres of land belonging to Shakkarnagar unit of NSL in Nizamabad district, without any permission. He cited the report submitted by the Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement, Nizamabad Collector and the Chief Engineer, NSL who favoured action against the erring official.
