Dehra Dun: An old man was trampled to death by an elephant in Kotdwar area in Uttarakhand’s Pauri district, official sources said on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday when Karimbaksh (60) and his grandson Islamuddin (18) were sleeping at a loft in his field in Mathana village when the elephant attacked them. While Islamuddin managed to run away to safety, Karimbaksh fell down on the ground and was trampled to death by the pachyderm. In a separate incident, a leopard was found dead on Srinagar-Pauri road yesterday. Forest officials have ruled out any foul play behind the leopard’s death and said it might have been killed by a speeding vehicle. The body of the leopard has been sent for a post-mortem.
