Woman’s body recovered from box

Varanasi: A woman’s body was recovered from a trunk at a private bus stand in Andhrapul here, creating panic in the area. Locals saw an abandoned box at the bus stand on Monday evening and informed the police, S.P. (city) Rajeev Malhotra said.

When the box was opened by the police the body of an unidentified woman was found in it with injury marks on her throat, indicating that she had died due to strangulation, he said.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem.

In another incident, a 50-year-old doctor, missing since Saturday evening from Bajardiha village, was found dead in a field in a neighbouring village.

The matter is being investigated, police sources said.
