Sangareddy: Former Union Minister and Medak MP A. Narendra said that his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (N) would not field any candidate in the ensuing byelections in constituencies vacated by the TRS legislators and parliament members of the region. Speaking to The Hindu on Tuesday he pointed out that his group would prefer to play a pro-Telangana role rather than playing second fiddle to other political parties. He is categorical in saying that supportive role doesn’t mean supporting either TRS or Bharatiya Janata party who have separate statehood as their agenda. He refused to divulge the details of his plans of alliance with pro-Telangana parties and chances of TRS (N) contesting in the general elections expected around 2009. Coming down heavily on the Congress seniors, Mr. Narendra demanded an explanation from them for belittling the cause of Telangana in front of Andhra leaders. He opined that the seniors should have resisted from meeting Sonia Gandhi in the first place as she denied them an audience few months ago. He demanded the seniors to put a stop to the ongoing “Mouna Vratam” and tell the people of Telangana as to what exactly transpired between Sonia and the Seniors. Narendra said that efforts have been made to rejuvenate cadre by organising small but crucial meetings.
