MP, MLA inspect damaged crops

MLA promises to repair group houses

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Sivakasi MP A. Ravichandran, and Virudhunagar MLA R. Varadarajan inspected the chilli crop damaged due to rain in Mangalam of Sivakasi Taluk on Tuesday.

Officials had not visited the village where chilli cultivated in over 200 acres was affected, the MLA said in a statement.

The MLA promised to repair group houses belonging to Dalits that were damaged in Mangalam, Nedungulam and Moolipatti panchayats and P. Kumaralingapuram.

Later, he impressed upon Collector V. Chandrasekaran to give suitable compensation for the affected people.
