VIZIANAGARAM: Cheques for Rs. 2 lakhs each were given to six self-help groups consisting of 72 disabled women from Gurla, Mentada and Garividi mandals. G. Nageswari, vice-president of Woman and Child Welfare Centre, Sreeramanagar (Garividi) said in a press release that Rehaswiss, Switzerland extended the aid under micro-credit plan. Tehsildar of Garividi G. Jayadevi gave away the cheques at a function on the WCWC premises on Monday. The beneficiaries were asked to start their own business and repay the sum in regular instalments. S. Ramprasad, project coordinator of Rehaswiss was present. Fire accidentHome needs like refrigerators and grinders were destroyed when fire broke out at a bangles and general stores on the main road here in the wee hours of Tuesday. According to S.V. Narasimham, Assistant DFO, fire broke out in the ground floor and spread to the first floor within minutes.
