BANGALORE: The Janata Dal (United) has asked Congress leaders not to once again usher in hereditary rule in the country. Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, general secretary of the party’s State unit G.K.C. Reddy said that the Congress was putting on a big show over the visit of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, which was nothing but the height of sycophancy. “Compared to many senior leaders of the Congress, Mr. Rahul Gandhi is a junior leader who is yet to ascend the party hierarchy. Yet senior leaders such as Mallikarjun Kharge, Veerappa Moily and Dharam Singh are paying so much attention to this visit,” he said. ‘Sycophancy’Mr. Reddy said all this adulation was being demonstrated just because Mr. Gandhi was the son of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. If Congressmen did not give up this sycophancy soon they would be solely responsible for ushering in hereditary rule, he said. Mr. Reddy also criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party for forgetting the spirit of partnership which it had shown during the National Democratic Alliance regime. He said the BJP appeared to be overconfident of winning enough seats in the next Lok Sabha elections and Assembly elections in Karnataka and was neglecting its coalition partners.
