HUBLI: B.V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli, has emerged as the sole winner from Karnataka in the “The Great Mind Challenge-2007”, a national-level project competition organised by IBM Academic Initiative India. At the competition held recently, students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Vaman Joshi, Sunil S. Jainar, Utpal U. Shanbhag and Sandeep Patil, won the award for the their project titled “Ospedale”, a dispensary management system. They prepared the project under the guidance of Manish Okade, according to a press release from the principal of the college Ashok Shettar. More than 62,000 students from 1,998 colleges across India participated in the event, in which students work on real-time projects using the latest industry tools and packages provided by IBM India. The project submitted by Bhoomaraddi College students is an automation of all hospital processes such as patient registration, doctors workbench, diagnostic laboratories, blood bank and patient records.
