Translation awards given away

CHENNAI: Syed Kabeer Ahmed, K. Damodar Rao and V. Ayothi were given the Indian Literature Golden Jubilee (1957-2007) Literary Translation Award on Monday for translating poems from Urdu, Telugu and Tamil into English.
The consolation awards, each comprising a certificate and a cash price of Rs 2,500 each, were given away by Ashokamitran, eminent writer-cum-translator and Sahitya Akademi Award winner, at a function organised by the Sahitya Akademi.
A.J. Thomas, Editor, Indian Literature, Sahitya Akademi, said the Akademi would go online soon.
