‘We are ready for Rahul’s visit’

MANGALORE: The Dakshina Kannada district unit of the Congress is fully geared to receive the general secretary of the Congress and member of the party’s working committee Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday.

The unit’s president, B. Ramanath Rai, told presspersons here that Mr. Gandhi will arrive here from Chamarajanagar and interact with students at T.M.A. Pai Hall between 11 a.m. and noon.

He will meet fishermen at Urva Church Hall between noon and 2 p.m. and spend time with disabled children at St. Agnes School till 3 p.m.

Thereafter, he will hold a meeting with party workers at Town Hall at 3 p.m. He will leave for Hubli at 4.15 p.m.

The former Chairman of the Legislative Council, B.L. Shankar, who is here to oversee the preparations for Mr. Gandhi’s visit, said Mr. Gandhi will address a public meeting if it does not rain.
