New ayurveda courses

Thiruvananthapuram: Seven new postgraduate courses will be started in ayurveda colleges in the State this year, Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy has said.

She was speaking at a function organised here on Tuesday to present State-level awards for 2007 to the best ayurveda doctors.She said the government had sanctioned Rs.1 crore for the modernisation of ayurveda colleges at Kannur and Thripunithura. She said the government was considering liberalising rules to enable more doctors to be selected for the award from next year. The award winners were C.R. Agnivesh, A. Nalinakshan, P.S. Chandran, J. Hareendran Nair and K. Raghavan Thirumulpad. — Special Correspondent
