Mission with a peaceful message

G. Prasad

TIRUCHI: For a man who has pedalled from Kanyakumari to Chennai in 37.5 hours, covering a distance of 50-odd km shouldn’t be much of a problem. But for the physically challenged S. Subramani the effort means a lot. For, he has done it for a cause – to spread the message of communal harmony.

And that too on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh and his fellow revolutionaries – Sukudev and Rajguru.

An employee of Ordnance Factory Tiruchi (OFT), Mr. Subramani lost his left leg in a train accident.

“Youngsters should be made aware of the sacrifice made by leaders like Bhagat Singh. My attempt is a step in that direction. Also through my effort I wish to spread the message of peace and communal harmony,” he says.

While on his way Mr. Subramani was felicitated at the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) training centre. His expedition culminated at Raja Thirumana Mandapam, Anna Nagar, where he was received by Anwar Hussain, the author of the book on Bhagat Singh ‘Viduthalai Ezhuchiyin Vidivelli.’
