dated March 26, 1958: Quality goods

The need to put forth all efforts to make producers and consumers of Indian goods in the country and abroad “standards-conscious” not only by the Indian Standards Institution but by the other private and public purchasing agencies was stressed in New Delhi on March 25 by Mr. Morarji Desai, Union Minister for Finance and the outgoing Minister for Commerce and Industry. Mr. Desai who, as Minister for Commerce and Industry, is president of the ISI, was addressing the 13th meeting of the General Council of the ISI. He expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the standardisation movement in the last 10 years but warned “this is not the time to rest on our oars. We have to prepare thousands of standards to meet the need of our developing economy and we have to see them implemented with due expedition.”
