3 killed as militants strike at rail station

Guwahati: Militants of Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel faction) gunned down three persons including two employees of the Northeast Frontier Railway at the Harangajao station in southern Assam’s North Cachar Hills district on Monday night. A passenger and a vendor were injured in the attack.
The police said the militants in battle fatigues reached the station, around 8.30 p.m., lobbed two grenades and then opened fire indiscriminately. Pointsmen Keshab Malakar (45) and Mas Palaya (41) and another person died on the spot.
The police recovered grenade shells, 80 empty cases of AK assault rifle ammunition and a bomb from the spot.
