North hopes to finish with a win

VISAKHAPATNAM: Despite the skies remaining cloudy, rain stayed away on Tuesday to provide hope of a prompt start to the North Zone vs. East Zone league match of the Deodhar Trophy scheduled to be held here on Wednesday.

The drainage system laid beneath the green outfield of the ACA-VDCA Stadium seems to be working efficiently as the outfield looks fit for play, provided there is no further rain. The grass on the wicket has been trimmed and runs can be expected on Wednesday. The pitch has been protected since Sunday evening after the North-South match ended. Both teams had nets on Tuesday.

The title has already been decided in Central’s favour after its match against East in Hyderabad on Sunday was washed out. However, North should go all out to win its first points as it has lost all the three previous encounters apart from having two penalty points.

Having already played two matches at the same venue, North will be hopeful of pulling out its first win. It will also be pleased that its openers clicked in the previous match.
