Joshna in final

CHENNAI: National squash champion Joshna Chinappa has reached her second successive WISPA tournament final at the NSC Tour I event in Kuala Lumpur.

Joshna had reached the title round in the Vietnam Open in Hanoi a few days ago before losing to top seed Louise Crome of New Zealand. Now another top-seeded New Zealander, Jaclyn Hawkes awaits her in the $12,000 tournament final, to be held on Wednesday.

Big win

Sixth-seeded Joshna, yet to win a WISPA tournament, had earlier chalked out one of the finest wins of her career when she eclipsed the second seed and home favourite Sharon Wee in five games after being 1-2 down. The Indian won 9-6, 3-9, 1-9, 9-7, 9-2. Sharon had earlier ended the run of another Indian, Dipika Pallikal.

In the quarterfinal, Joshna had beaten Line Hansen of Denmark 9-1, 9-4, 8-10, 9-0 and prevailed over Siti Munirah Jusoh of Malaysia 9-3, 3-9, 9-3, 9-2 in the first round of the 16-player draw.
