EMU service hit
Special Correspondent
TAMBARAM: The movement of a suburban electric train service between Chennai Beach and Tirumalpur, near Chengalpattu, was affected for over 30 minutes owing to an electrical short circuit at Perungalathur Railway Station near Tambaram on Tuesday night.
The suburban train to Tirumalpur left at 7.30 p.m. It reached Perungalathur around 8.20 p.m., when a loud noise was heard, creating panic among the commuters. Southern Railway sources attributed the technical snag to an electrical short circuit on the pantograph (the device that collects electric supply from overhead lines) of the EMU.The problem was set right at 9 p.m.
