Suicide bid near Assembly
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: A farmer M. Bikshapati, 37, and six members of his family attempted suicide near the Assembly on Tuesday, the Saifabad police said.
The farmer, along with his wife, mother and four children walked up to the Assembly Gate-1 from Nizam Club around 8.15 a.m. While crossing the road, they doused themselves with kerosene and tried to set themselves aflame near Gate-1.
A traffic police constable Sd. Mustafa, who was on duty there, rushed towards them, snatched the kerosene cans from their hands and prevented them from entering the Assembly gate. Later, they were handed over to the Saifabad police.
Bikshapati hails from Ibrahimpatnam of the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district. He told the police that he had a dispute with his cousin Yadaiah over 4.5 acres of land in the village. He maintained that he and his family were vexed as the dispute could not be resolved.
No case was registered against them. They were assured of putting up the matter before the higher ups and let off.
