KADAPA: Doctors of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) struck work on Tuesday demanding UGC scales of pay and other facilities.

Doctors did not attend to out-patients since morning, putting to hardship a large number of people who came to the hospital, located about 10 km from the district headquarters. They were demanding UGC scales and Government accommodation to those serving in rural areas, according to Government Doctors Association secretary B. Ramachandraiah and State Council member S.A. Farooque.

Resenting frequent strikes by doctors, a woman who came from Pendlimarri about 20 km away, with a complaint of chest pain said Government doctors should announce in advance about their strike plans to avoid inconveniencing patients, specially who come from long distances.
