Register FIR against bank, orders court
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A court here has ordered registration of an FIR against ICICI Bank for allegedly re-possessing a bus that had been financed by the bank when the owner refused to give additional post-dated cheques to it.
Metropolitan Magistrate Praveen Kumar directed the Station House Officer of the Vasant Kunj police station to register the FIR and also file an investigation report on the next date of hearing (April 8).
The court took strong objection to the police simply filing a report, following a prima facie complaint, instead of registering an FIR. It also issues notices to the SHO and Assistant Commissioner of Police concerned to reply why a contempt reference against them be not made to the Delhi High Court.
Ravinder Singh Mann, in his complaint filed through his counsel M.R. Singh Sisodia, had alleged that one of his 21 buses, was forcibly taken away from him on March 1 by some of the officials of the bank. They had taken away the bus to Ghaziabad and the driver and the other staff of the bus were roughed up.
According to the complainant, the action of the bank was a result of his refusal to give them additional post-dated cheques without any reason. The complainant had also pointed out that such an action was taken when his firm had not even defaulted in repayment of the loan.
