SHOW OF SUPPORT: Activists of the DYFI lay siege to the Vanchiyoor court complex in the city on Tuesday. — THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The district committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), on Tuesday, laid siege to the Vanchiyoor court complex demanding the constitution of a High Court Bench in the city. The DYFI leaders said the party would intensify its agitation if the Union government and Union Ministers did not heed the demand for setting up the Bench. Vaikom Viswan, convenor of the Left Democratic Front, inaugurated the siege. DYFI activists from various parts of the district took part in the siege that began around 8 a.m. Meanwhile, the Thiruvananthapuram Bar Association decided to broaden the action committee for the constitution of the Bench by including members from other district bar associations and the Federation of Residents’ Associations, Thiruvananthapuram, and the president of the Thiruvananthapuram Criminal Court Bar Association.
