Showcasing vivid colours of art
Kunal Diwan
Golden pick: A painting by Haripal Tyagi.
NEW DELHI: An exhibition of paintings by Haripal Tyagi is now open for viewing at Lalit Kala Akademi here.
A writer as well as a poet and a painter, Haripal took up art as a young boy and was first taught the rudiments of drawing by his elder sister, a folk artist. Arriving in Delhi in 1955 after his higher secondary education, Haripal sought jobs that would involve any form of art or creativity.
His works have been published in leading newspapers and magazines since 1958. A sketch book titled “Aadmi Se Aadmi Tak” was published in 1982 while another book titled “Sujan Sakha Haripal” was released in 1998.
The book is based on the life and works of Haripal and comprises contributions by 31 significant writers, artists and art critics.
Haripal has also held several solo exhibitions at various prominent locations such as the Rabindra Rangshala in Jaipur and the AIFACS gallery in Delhi. He has participated in several national exhibitions by Lalit Kala Akademi and Sahitya Kala Parishad.
The current exhibition is open for viewing up to this Friday.
