Former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate it DAVANGERE: A convention of Honnali taluk BJP workers will be held at Honnali on April 1 and the former Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa, will inaugurate it. Talking to reporters here, Renukacharya, former MLA, said that BJP leaders, including Sadananda Gowda, president of the State BJP, D.H. Shankaramurthy, Jagadish Shettar, K.S. Eshwarappa and Siddeshwar, Davangere MP and vice-president of the State BJP, would attend the convention. Mr. Renukacharya said that top leaders of the Congress, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, had toured Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat a number of times prior to the elections there. FailureBut both of them had failed to impress upon the people and the Congress was defeated in most of the constituencies in those two States. Hence, the visit of Rahul Gandhi to Karnataka would have no bearing on the Congress or on the BJP that enjoys the goodwill and sympathy of the people for not being allowed to govern the State by the Janata Dal (S), its partner in the previous coalition government. He also alleged that the Congress had made use of Dalit leaders for building the party only to let them down during the elections. He narrated how cleverly Rahul Gandhi had evaded a question by a Dalit youth in Chamarajnagar whether the Congress would appoint Mallikarjun Kharge, president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, as Chief Minister if the Congress gets majority in the elections.
