1,427 polling booths in Davangere district

Jagalur Assembly segment has the highest of 211
Davangere South with 153 comes last

DAVANGERE: There are 1,427 polling stations in Davangere district after the delimitation exercise. Earlier, there were 1,316 polling stations.

Addressing a press conference here, Davangere Deputy Commissioner M.B. Dyaberi said Jagalur Assembly constituency had the highest number of polling stations of 211 while Davangere (South) had the least number of polling stations of 153 in the district.

Harpanahalli had 182 polling stations, Harihar 179, Davangere (North) 167, Mayakonda 185 while Chennagiri and Honnali Assembly segments had 175 polling stations each, he said.

Jagalur Assembly segment had been shifted to ST (Reserve) while Mayakonda had been reserved for SC candidate. Harpanahalli Assembly constituency would be general, he said and added that earlier, this constituency was reserved for SC candidate.

Davangere Assembly constituency had been bifurcated into north and south segments.

He said that the new electoral list would be published on March 29. He, however, said that updating of voter’s list would continue till the last day for filing nomination papers by the candidates. Those who want to add their names or delete their names from the voter’s list could do so by submitting an application in the prescribed form.

A special drive would be organised on March 29 and March 30 and also on April 5 and April 6. People could submit applications for deletion and addition of names in the electoral list.

Election officers would be at the polling stations on these four days and people could verify the electoral list and if there was any addition or deletion, they could submit applications in the prescribed form.

A helpline had been set up at different places, including the Deputy Commissioner’s office, corporation office and tahsildar’s office.
