PUDUCHERRY: The Pondicherry University has prescribed maximum duration for passing various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including medicine, engineering, law and management courses. Accordingly, the maximum time permitted for courses with duration of a year would be three years. For courses requiring up to three years, the maximum time for completion is double the duration, the university said in a release. Similarly, the maximum duration of courses with a duration of more than three years would be 2n-1 years, with ‘n’ denoting the duration of course. However, the university would permit previous batches of students who had already completed the maximum duration of course to write their arrear examinations up to May/June 2009 as a one-time measure. Courses such as B.Ed/M.Ed/PG Diploma/Certificate with a one year duration should be completed within three years. The maximum duration for completion of two-year courses such as M.A/M.Sc/M.Com/M.B.A/LL.M/M.Tech/M.V.Sc would be four years. For three-year courses including B.A/B.Sc/B.Com/B.F.A/B.Sc (MLT)/LL.B/MD/MS/MDS, the university has prescribed a maximum duration of six years.
