Bus operators challenge G.O.

CHENNAI: Aggrieved over the non-inclusion of their routes in the inter-State agreement between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, various bus operators have moved the Madras High Court, challenging a government order issued in January.
Justice A. Kulasekaran ordered notice to respondents returnable in two weeks. Additional Advocate-General N. Kannadasan took notice on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government.
D. Gowtham Kumar of Chickpet, Bangalore, a petitioner, submitted that he held an inter-State permit for operating the route from Bangalore to Tiruvannamalai and back, issued by the State Transport Authority, Karnataka. The primary permit was being renewed from time to time. It had been renewed up to February 2011. When other routes had been included in the inter-State agreement, non-inclusion of the petitioner’s route was illegal and improper. He had made representations to the respective governments but they were not considered.
